I love rocks, especially geodes. As a little girl, I was fascinated by them. I found a geode on a hike when I was about ten, and ever since then, I keep my eyes peeled for a round rock that might hold something more beautiful within. It might be considered a nerdy obsession, but I own it. And my daughter has followed in my footsteps!
Now that I am older, I have found that I dig rocks of all kinds, not just the geodes: large boulders, small pebbles, smooth ones, shiny ones, green and pink. I get excited when I see the stacked rocks too. I’ve seen them all over the world from beaches in Aruba to rain forests in Puerto Rico. Even the movie Moana made me geek out a little when they climbed to the top of the mountain to see the stacked stone altar.
While stones represent various things to different people, I’ve noticed that God uses rocks in many places throughout scripture. They are symbolic as well as tangible for all sorts of things. Next week, I will begin a series entirely centered on how stones appear in the Bible.
Here’s how the weeks stack up:
I can’t wait to see what God will reveal to my childhood heart’s obsession. My hope is you might geek out a little bit too!
